Before you give budget a thought, list all of the other needs that you want your new chainsaw to meet.You need to ask yourself how often you will be using it. If you are only going to be using it occasionally then you should be able to get away with one of the less expensive makes and models. If noise is going to be of concern then naturally you will most likely want to go with electric and then one of the quieter ones at that. You may want to look at Echo chainsaws for example.
If you are only going to use it occasionally or for short periods of duration then weight will not be a big factor. If you are going to be using it for long jobs or on a consistent basis then weight is going to be very important to you.
Out of all the important features, you may be looking at make safety the number one priority. All of the chainsaws come with some built in safety features but some are far superior. Safety should be number one on your list.
