Traditional options for accommodation when you travel to iceland sometime prove too costly for families and small groups. Foreign tourists looking for bargain travel deals in Iceland get great value for money while staying in a summer cottage rather than in a hotel or a guesthouse. Viator an an online reservation/booking service  provides an exclusive but inexpensive booking service on behalf of 130 owners of privately owned summer cottages in all parts of Iceland.

Viator.is was founded in 2002 by Petur Oskarsson and Bjarnheidur Hallsdottir. The company represents the owners of 130 privately owned cottages located in all parts of the country who make their cottages available for rent to foreign tourists visiting Iceland. Although each cottage is furnished and decorated differently they all include hot and cold water as well as heating. The cottages also include a shower or a bath, fully equipped kitchen and one or more bedrooms.

“About 80 percent of our customers spend their time here during the summer season which coincides with the traditional school holidays in Europe and North America,” says Oskarsson. Those visiting the country in winter would enjoy a different kind of experience such as sitting in a hot-tub heated with geothermal water while gazing at the northern lights.

Nearly half of all summer cottages in Iceland are located within an hour’s drive from Reykjavik the country’s capital where 65 percent of the population lives.

Further information about renting privately owned summer cottages in Iceland is available both in English and in the German language as Ferienhäuser in Island on Viator’s website: www.viator.is

Many experts state that rowing is one of the better exercises that you can do for aerobic activity. They say this because rowing will not only help with your cardio, but it will also give your muscles a pretty decent workout as well. Rowing machines are unlike other well known cardio machines in that a rower will workout your upper and lower body at the same time. In general when you are on a rowing machine, you will work with seventy five percent using your legs and the other twenty five percent you will be using your arms. Rowing sometimes may also be better that other exercises like running or jogging. Some say that running and jogging will put unnecessary pressure on your joints and bones. Rowing when done the proper way will get rid of almost all of the pressure on your body.

If you are in the market for a rowing machine, you should know that there are basically four main types of rowers for you to consider and they are piston based, magnetic, water and flywheel. The cheaper exercise rowing machines can still give you a good workout. If you are looking to go the cheap route you are probably considering the piston based rowers. Thees types of rowers will be the cheapest of the four and operate from the tension that is present in a cylinder. This tension is able to be adjusted on most models of this type of rowing machine. The downfall with the piston based rowing machines is that some don’t allow you to pull in a straight line which gets away from the true rowing technique. This is not really ideal because you want to have as close to the proper rowing form as possible when using an indoor rowing machine.

The air rowing machine gives the user a really close similarity to true rowing. The resistance of an air rowing machine is provides by the flywheel that is attached to the machine and also comes form the wind that is created through your rowing motion. A home rowing machine is a great piece of equipment to own. As opposed to the piston rowing machine where you have to adjust the piston for resistance, the air rowing machines resistance is adjusted by the user pulling harder or softer. If you compared the piston based rower with the air rower, the air rower gives a move natural movement and therefore mimics rowing better.

The magnetic rowing machine is another rower that mimics the movements of a professional rower very well. In addition to doing this, the magnetic rowing machine is also more silent than the piston based rower or the air rowing machine. Unlike the other two versions, the magnetic rower uses a magnet system to build up resistance. An air rowing machine can be a bit noisy when using it. The magnet will act as a breaking system for the machine. The magnets used in the magnetic rowing machine produce almost no resistance and this is why the machine is pretty much silent when users are using it.

Recently I’ve had the chance to visit some of the great theme parks in Southern California. Between them all, you can immerse yourself in the world of a bunch of your favorite TV and movie characters.

We know where to find Mickey Mouse and all his Disney friends—in Anaheim. If you’d like some good information about planning a trip to the Disneyland Resort, check out the SoCal Vacation Guru. Disney has no-doubt done the most effective job of bringing imaginary characters to life, much to the delight of us all.

A few miles down the road at Knott’s Berry Farm you’ll find all the Peanuts gang at Camp Snoopy. Knott’s has done a nice job of absorbing Charlie Brown, his faithful pet and their friends into their culture. Do they still have the Camp Snoopy at the Mall of America in Minnesota?

Hit Universal Studios Hollywood and you can find Spiderman, Betty Boop, the Flintstones, Woody Woodpecker and a squadron of other beloved Universal characters; Universal has been at the heart of many television shows as well as famous movies. You can find some good details about Universal Studios Hollywood at the SoCal Vacation Guru.

Before leaving Universal I have four words for you: Homer Simpson. Yes, The Simpsons have been immortalized in their own attraction at this great theme park. That includes Krusty the clown and many other residents of Springfield.

Lastly, we drive up north a ways and stop at Six Flags Magic Mountain. According to the SoCal Vacation Guru, this park is best known for its roller coasters and other thrill rides. But skulking around the place are the nutty characters of Warner Brothers cartoons, notably the Loony Toons guys.

Porky is there, along with Daffy, Yosemite Sam, Tweety and the others. Beep Beep! There’s a nice area for small children; the park management has figured out that not everyone is a teen-age or twenty-something thrill ride fanatic. The characters are very charming and are pretty easy to find around the mountain. This joint may be my favorite.
